Lenbachhaus München

The Lenbachaus together with the adjoining Kunstbau is one of Munich’s best-known international art museums. The former artists’ residence of Franz von Lenbach and the new construction designed by Norman Foster Architects showcase works from the 19th century, the Blue Rider and international contemporary positions to visitors from around the world.

Herburg Weiland designed a visual identity that accommodates the museum’s history and diverse audience while simultaneously maintaining a high level of brand recognition across all communication channels. The key element in this process was the custom-developed typeface »Lenbach Grotesk«, used not only in analog and digital publications, including the barrier-free website, but also in signage throughout the museum’s various buildings.
