The visual revival of a beloved theater.

The Resi, one of the largest theaters in Germany, is an iconic Munich institution. With Martin Kušej taking over as artistic director, the company was to find a voice of its own and increase its visibility in the public eye – a grand, resounding statement was in the works. A site for artistic reflection on social phenomena – this is the self-image that the institution’s new look should convey.

A new visual identity marks the start of an era. What was previously overlooked in the urban landscape, now has a distinctive presence. A major campaign was launched – red, bold, political, provocative and, above all, instantly recognized, the theater has since been thriving for the past eight years. Artists such as Myrzik and Jarisch, Andy Hope 1830 or Daniel Richter characterize the look of the season booklets, all of which are developed in close coordination with the theater. Throughout this tenure, the visual communication of the Residenztheater has won numerous prestigious design awards.
